The jury of the European Car of the Year competition announcements list of models who will compete for the grand prize. The list of finalists consists of seven cars, six of which are full-fledged electric cars, and the seventh has a rechargeable battery version.
Cupra Born, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Skoda Enyaq iV, Renault Megane E-Tech, co-platformers Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 (as separate nominations) and Peugeot 308 reached the final of the prestigious race. Only the new Peugeot 308 has an internal combustion engine version, but in Europe, among other versions, it is also available as a plug-in hybrid.
Thus, no model of Japanese origin was included in the list of finalists, although last year the hatchback Toyota Yaris of the new generation became the Car of the Year in Europe. The Chinese cars also did not reach the final, but for the first time this year they made their way to the semifinals.
The best car of 2022 in Europe will be announced by the jury of the race, consisting of 61 specialized journalists, on February 28. One of the finalists has already won a prestigious title – at the end of November, the Ioniq 5 electric car was named “Car of the Year in Germany”. The Kia EV6 became the best premium car in this race.
