NEURC Proposes Single Price for Electricity to Improve Financial Performance and Ensure Availability for the Population

“NEURC, in pursuance of part three of Article 62 of the law, submits proposals for amending the Regulation from 06/01/2023 with the introduction of the first stage of adjusting prices for electricity for household consumers using a single price without differentiation by consumption volumes at the level of UAH 2.88/kWh- g (with VAT),” it says.

The regulator notes that the introduction of such changes will improve the financial performance of the state-owned Energoatom and Ukrhydroenergo and bring the mechanism for imposing special obligations to ensure the availability of electricity for the population (PSO) to a balanced state.

The submission also added that in order to stabilize JI, it is necessary to gradually bring electricity prices for residential consumers to market levels.

In addition, NEURC held consultations with the Energy Community Secretariat on the above proposals.

Recall that the National Bank of Ukraine includes in its forecast an increase in the tariff for electricity this year.
