MG has released a video showing a sporty two-seater roadster. It has similar proportions to the Mazda MX-5, taillights in the shape of the British flag and a Tesla-style steering wheel inside, without the top.

“The return of the legend. See a preview of our MG sports car,” the automaker said in a statement, referring to similar cars that have been part of the British marque’s portfolio since the 1960s.

The sports car shown in the video is similar to the 2021 Cyberster concept. The study was an electric car and is expected to be the same for the production variant, which is currently expected to go on sale around 2024 in MG’s markets. Whether this will also be the case in the Czech Republic, where the MG brand returned this year, is not yet clear.

The automaker unveiled a modular platform for electric vehicles in July, which the company said is also ready for sports cars. It is likely that a new platform, known as MSP, will underpin this roadster as well. It is not yet clear when it will be fully introduced.
