The carmaker from Togliatti has expressed an opinion on Tesla’s plans to enter the Russian market. According to a representative of the plant, there can be no direct competition between Lada and the American manufacturer of electric cars. His words were quoted by RIA Novosti.
The agency’s interlocutor also notes that even if Tesla officially appears in Russia, it will not be any rival to Lada. The two brands operate in completely different market segments and are aimed at different target audiences, he stressed.

On May 21, Tesla’s CEO spoke at the New Knowledge event. During his speech, he said that in the near future the brand could enter the Russian market, as well as appear in Kazakhstan and other countries of the former Soviet Union.
In addition, Musk does not rule out the possibility of building a Tesla plant in Russia and locating the assembly of electric cars there. To date, Tesla is not officially represented in Russia, but the sale of American electric vehicles is carried out by the Moscow Tesla Club.
