Festspielhaus model 1925
For many years, a former riding school complex served as a temporary festival theater, now it is called the “small festival theater”. Today’s “Great Festival Hall” was only inaugurated in 1960. Its construction shows that Salzburg is on the edge of the Alps: To make room for the oversized stage, 55,000 cubic meters of granite had to be blown away.
