MST is tightening visitor regulations due to an increasing number of corona infections in Twente | Coronavirus

ENSCHEDE – Due to the increasing number of corona infections in Twente, MST is tightening up the visitor regulations with immediate effect. In very exceptional cases, a maximum of one visitor per patient is allowed for a maximum of one hour per day. The regulation in the ZGT remains unchanged for the time being.

Last week in Twente 206 infections reported with the corona virus. That is more than double compared to a week earlier, when 91 people from Twente were tested positive. On Thursday, 80 infections were reported in Twente on one day. The highest number in months.

In order to protect patients and visitors as well as possible, the MST considers it necessary to tighten up the visitor regulations. The advice is not to visit patients in the hospital. If there is no other option, a maximum of one visitor per patient is allowed for a maximum of one hour per day.

Screening at the gate

Only by limiting contact as much as possible can the 1.5 meter distance be preserved as much as possible and patients receive the care they need, the hospital reports. In many cases, telephone or video calling is possible. In addition, the MST wants to start screening people at the gate as soon as possible, in a tent at the hospital.

The ZGT, with branches in Hengelo and Almelo, also sees the number of corona infections in Twente increasing, but does not yet intend to adjust the visitors’ scheme. “We are currently looking at several options,” said spokesman Ilona Reilink. “Visits are very important for a patient, so we want to arrange that as well as possible.”

Maximum of two people visiting

Currently, a maximum of one visitor is allowed to visit a patient’s bedside at a time in the ZGT and two people are allowed to visit per two-hour visit. “These visitors can therefore alternate,” said the spokesman.
