Storm Ciara, according to a first estimate by the Dutch Association of Insurers, has caused damage of around 150 million euros. Because not all claims for damages have yet been filed and it is not clear for some claims how large the claim is, the insurers expect that the amount will still increase.
The various insurers mainly received reports of damage to houses and cars. “Insurers were prepared for claims from all over the country to come in,” says Weurding director of the Dutch Association of Insurers.
“That happened, but fortunately Ciara caused less damage than the January storm in 2018.” Then the damage amounted to 450 million euros.
