D-6 before the departure of Tour de France ! After a first stage for sprinter at Nice, serious things will happen from the second stage, always at Nice, with two passes over 1500m in altitude to climb: the Turini and the Colmiane. The 3rd step between Nice and Sisteron should smile again at the sprinters, then the 4th stage will be the scene of the first arrival at the top of this Tour 2020 at Orcières Merlette, at the end of an ascent of 7.1km at 6.7% average. The 12th stage between Chauvigny and Sarran will be the longest of this Tour de France 2020 – 218km – and could come back to an attacker. The favorites will then be explained with a new arrival at the top of the No Peyrol (5.4km at 8.1% average) at Puy Mary before a 14th stage between Clermont-Ferrand and Lyon which promises to be difficult with three ribs in the final. Finally, just before the second day of rest, a beautiful mountain stage is on the program with an arrival at the top of the Grand Colombier (17.4km at 7.1%).

The day after the rest day, a new mountain stage between La Tour-du-Pin and Villard-de-Lans with a hill finish. The 17th stage promises to be decisive between Grenoble and Méribel with the climbs of Col de la Madeleine (17.1km at 8.4%) and a finish at the top of the terrible Col de la Loze (21.5km at 7.8%).

Another very difficult day will follow with more than 4000m of elevation gain between Méribel and La Roche-sur-Foron, with in particular the climb to the Glières plateau, then the sprinters who will still be in contention will aim for victory at Champagnole on the 19th stage. Finally, the organizers have planned an explosive final with an individual time trial – the only time on this Tour 2020 – 36km which will reach the top of The Board of Beautiful Girls as the penultimate step. Then the runners will rally Paris and the Champs-Élysées to conclude the 107th Tour de France.
