Coronavirus: Bogotá: Occupation of ICU in Bogotá, the lowest in 52 days | Bogota

Bogotá continues to improve in its indicators in relation to COVID-19. This Sunday, the city woke up with a 75.3% occupancy rate for intensive care unit beds. According to the mayor’s chief of staff, Felipe Jiménez, it is the lowest occupation in the last 52 days.

According to the Mayor’s Office figures, of the 1,813 ICU beds available in the city for COVID-19 care, 1,365 are currently in use, including 732 confirmed and 633 probable cases.

After being very close to 100% occupancy a few weeks ago, the city has been declining at those levels. Last Tuesday, the occupancy reached 84.2%. Of 1,773 beds available at the time, 1,493 beds were occupied.

This decrease in the occupancy rate has been influenced by the progressive growth in the number of intensive care beds that has been given in the city, but also a drop in the rate of contagion of the disease.

The mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, has indicated that it is expected that in early September the capital of the republic will exceed the peak of contagion of the coronavirus. In fact, two localities that were in strict quarantine, Puente Aranda and Antonio Nariño, came out of this measure due to the good indicators they have had.
