Covid. Expansion of the capacity of Ibn Tofail hospital in Marrakech

The Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, governor of the prefecture of Marrakech, Karim Kassi-Lahlou, inquired on Saturday, at the Ibn Tofail hospital in the Ocher City, of the progress of the development work a tent, where people infected with Covid-19 will be taken care of.

The development of this marquee within the Ibn Tofail hospital is part of the implementation of the measures taken by the Ministry of Health to promote and extend the care system for Covid-19 patients, especially intensive care.

Mr. Kassi-Lahlou inquired about the state of progress of the work of this tent, which will be fitted out as afield hospital where the Covid-19 cases will be taken, in order to alleviate the pressure on other hospital structures in the city.

The additional capacity of this marquee amounts to 100 beds equipped with oxygen and devoted to pre-resuscitation.

The Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, presented last Wednesday, at the Cité Ocre, the main measures that will be taken to deal with the latest developments in the epidemiological situation at the level of the prefecture of Marrakech.

Thus, he indicated, it was decided to rationalize the hospital structures of Marrakech and to restructure and organize the process of care for people infected with Covid-19.

Ibn Zohr hospital (Mamounia), which will benefit from extension works and will be fully equipped with oxygen piping, will be dedicated only to suspected cases and screening for Covid-19 while Al Antaki hospital will be upgraded for the management of cases admitted to intensive care (first degree).

The Ibn Tofail hospital will also be extended, while a marquee will be set up as a field hospital where Covid-19 cases will be taken care of.

A building belonging to this hospital will also be upgraded and dedicated to the care of Covid-19 cases.

The Arrazi hospital under the Mohammed VI CHU will remain on its side, dedicated to critical cases.

The Benguerir field hospital will also be extended, the litter capacity of which will drop from 360 beds currently to 650 beds, which will ease the pressure on the hospitals in Marrakech.
