The Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) has heard that one of its students is involved in the judicial file after the death of Sanda Dia during a baptism of the Reuzegom student circle. The university ensures its full cooperation and is looking globally at whether they may need to take legal action in this file.

In 2019, the VUB had already learned that one of its students had to undergo the terrible and degrading baptism rituals together with the deceased Sanda Dia. The VUB recently learned that a staff member is part of the judicial file following the dramatic death of Sanda Dia, but that turns out to be a student.
“Further research by the VUB shows that it is not a staff member, but a VUB student. If the judicial authorities so request, the VUB will provide the necessary information and provide full cooperation. We are examining whether and which legal steps the VUB will take ”, the VUB says.
The investigation of possible legal action is not specifically directed against the student involved, but is investigated within the global picture of the Reuzegom file.
The Brussels University adds that at this stage it expresses its support above all to the family and friends of Sanda Dia, and hopes with them and for them for a fair and just trial.
