Nice theory but incorrect
Nice theory. But incorrect
It is indeed common to indicate image format with diagonal, but they are only comparable when the aspect ratio is the same, as in the TV market. In the telephone market, that habit has been adopted, although smartphones do not always have the same screen ratio. For example, a 5.8 “screen can be much larger than a 5.8” screen or a 5.8 “screen and thus lead to a wider or less wide phone.
That is why we started to mention the physical size in addition to screen diagonals, such as ’14, 6×7.7cm ‘, along with the aspect ratio and the screen area.
For example:
Phone 1: 5.8 “, 16: 9, 12.8×7.2cm, 93cm2
Phone 2: 5.8 “, 18.5: 9, 13.2×6.4cm, 85cm2
Phone 3: 5.8 “, 21: 9, 13.6×5.8cm, 78cm2
Three phones, the same screen diagonal, but very different screens. Therefore, more information is needed to know how big the screen is
