Infielder Matt Duffy has signed a minor league contract with the Yankees. The Bombers also awarded minor league deals to catcher Max McDowell and right-hander Dan Otero.

New York will send Dominican starter Luis Severino, who had a Tommy John operation in February, to the 60-day disabled list.





Duffy, 29, was a productive player in his first full season in the majors with the Giants, hitting .295 / .334 / .428 with 12 home runs and 12 swindles, to finish second in the Rookie of the Year voting. of the National League in 2015.

But after his move to the Rays – traded for pitcher Matt Moore – Duffy began to be plagued with injuries. McDowell, 26, was selected by the Brewers in the 2015 Draft and played in the Milwaukee organization last year. He hit .213 / .333 / .314 in 315 turns with Double-A Biloxi.

The Yankees had unsubscribed Otero before re-signing him to a minor league contract. The 35-year-old right-hander originally signed a minor league contract with New York on February 3.
