There was a fire at a waste treatment facility in Aira City, and firefighting efforts are currently underway.

According to the police and fire department, just before 11 p.m. on the 25th, the security company that manages the facility called 119 to report that there was a fire reaction at a waste treatment facility in Nishibeppu, Kajiki-cho, Aira City.

Approximately nine hours later, more than eight fire engines are still on duty to extinguish the fire.

There is no information on injuries.

The site is the Maruyama Kinosuke Shoten Kagoshima Central Resource Recycling Center, which sorts waste, and is approximately 1,800 square meters.

The facility was closed for the 25th and no employees were present.
