The Circle of Fine Arts of Santa Cruz de Tenerife calls forced elections | Radio Club Tenerife | Present

On Tuesday, March 3, the announcement was made by Esther Ropón of her desire to run for the presidency of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This step has been taken by her and part of the previous board of directors, due to the difference of opinions regarding the still acting president, José Valladares.

According to him, this was not the right time to force an election: “We have pending the agreement with the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo and the City Council to obtain the money that will allow the reform of the building.” This project is the cause of the divergence, since Esther Ropón assures that “it is a mistake to focus only on the reform of the building, because the Círculo de Bellas Artes is much more than a building.” So much so that, when Valladares resisted calling elections, the members who resigned sent a burofax to the presidency urging him to call for votes.

These two positions converge into two candidacies for the presidency, the one led by Esther Ropón, along with Nieves Duque, cultural journalist, Lucía Suárez, educational psychologist and graduate in Protocol, Lola Camprubi Domenech, cultural manager, Elena García, architect, designer and Consultant of Innovation, Alberto Lemus, law and journalism graduate, Helena Berthelius, graduate in Dance Pedagogy, dancer and choreographer, Claudia Esquivel, journalist and multidisciplinary artist, and journalist and writer Juan Cruz Ruiz, national journalism award.

The other proposal, in which José Valladares repeats, is led by artist Alejandro Tosco de Castro. Its main objective is to undertake the renovation of the building as soon as possible in order to reopen it and reschedule normally. Also on the list are Helena Quintana Herrera, Pablo Martín Carbajal, José Manuel Sabina Santos, Andrés Orozco Muñoz, Elena Lecuona Monteverde, José Carlos Acha, Rosa Hernández Hernández, Carlos Belda García, Ana María Quesada Acosta, Efrain Pintos Barate, Celestino Mesa Pérez.

The vote will be held at Calle Castillo headquarters this Tuesday, March 10. That same day the result and the option by which the majority of the partners will opt for will be known.
