Starting Monday, Panda will be introducing an additional €3.80 charge for each compost bin lift in several Irish households. It’s worth noting that the company has already raised its general waste bin-lift charges by more than 12 per cent and increased its service charges in less than a year. This counterproductive move has been criticised by Social Democrats TD, Jennifer Whitmore. Whitmore emphasizes that penalising citizens for composting won’t encourage them to extend their waste reduction efforts, citing that it’s essential to incentivise people to recycle and compost instead.
