According to our information, France intends to propose, as of this Friday during the meeting of European Interior Ministers by videoconference at 9:30 am, to reopen the borders of Schengen area next July 1st. The executive hopes that this provision will be adopted during this meeting. The idea is to avoid the cacophony that surrounded the closing of the borders when they were reopened.
Paris wants internal borders to reopen on June 15
France also wants all the internal borders of the European Union to be reopened on June 15. The Elysée Palace also suggests not imposing any fourteen-month measure inside the European Union except with regard to countries imposing it on France, such as Spain or the United Kingdom.
The question of reopening the internal borders of the European Union must be decided next week during a Defense Council, depending on the development of the health situation.
