LONDON – Tennis referee Fabian Carrero from the Dominican Republic has been banned for life for match-fixing in 2019, the International Tennis Integrity Agency reported on Thursday.
The referee committed 16 violations of the tennis anti-corruption program during eight meetings at tournaments held in the Dominican Republic in November and December 2019.
“Carrero manipulated the outcome of the match to guarantee betting winnings,” ITIA said in a statement. The suspension means that Carrero cannot even participate in events organized by tennis’ governing bodies, AP reports.
