Mammootty on the set is not what I heard; In some scenes we became Bejar: Suresh Babu

Film actor and theater artist T Suresh Babu said that Mammootty on the shooting sets was very different from what he had heard. In an interview to DoolNews, he shared his experiences of acting with Mammootty in Nanpankaal Nareath Mayakam.

T. who is well known to the Malayalee movie audience through The Great Indian Kitchen directed by Jio Baby. Suresh Babu plays the father-in-law of the central character James played by Mammootty in Nanpakal.

Suresh Babu was responding to the question of Doolnews representative Anna Keerthy George about how he views the compliments that the film is one of the best performances of actor Mammootty’s career as a co-star and in the context of his long experience of acting.

The presenter also asked about Mammootty’s performance while acting and after the completion of the film.

‘I saw the film for the first time at IFFK. Maybe out of love for myself, I mostly watched myself in that show. I thought I would watch the movie again.

Cinema is entirely the art of the director. The movie is in his mind. Even Mammook can’t understand this movie completely. No matter how important a role the director plays in the play, the audience ultimately consumes what the actor serves. But the film is not like that, in which the director has the final say.

Coming to Mammooka, I was very friendly with Mammooka on the sets. Talked a lot. It was like a close relationship with him. Mammooka was not a unique person on the set.

At first it took some work to understand what he was. It was like not catching. But later, when he started talking openly, he became a close friend.

Mammooka must have told us all the news right before the shoot. But the next moment he steps in front of the camera, his performance is worth watching. He will do some very minute things.

We have gone too far in some scenes. We were all emotional while watching his performance during rehearsals and taking takes,’ Suresh Babu told DoolNews.

Directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, Nanpakal Nereth Mayakkum hit the theaters on January 19. The film received great response in film festivals including IFFK and received a great response in the theaters as well.
