An avalanche killed 28 people in Tibet. The search for survivors is almost complete, local authorities report to Chinese media.
53 people have been pulled out alive from under the snow. The accident near the town of Nyingchi in southwestern Tibet happened on Tuesday; yesterday the news was released by the Chinese state news agency Xinhua.
The avalanche deposited a large mass of snow and ice at the exit of a tunnel connecting the city to the district of Metog. Cars also got stuck.

The state newspaper Global Times reports that is still being searched for survivors with drones and rescuers today. More than 50 sentries had been set up with emergency equipment to warn rescue teams if another avalanche was imminent.
Nyingchi is located at an altitude of about 3000 meters.
