Incheon ‘Queer Festival’ will be held for the first time in three years … Opposition rallies are also held, traffic congestion expected

The Queer Culture Festival, a face-to-face event for sexual minorities, will be held in Incheon for the first time in three years.

According to the organizing committee of the Incheon Queer Culture Festival, the 5th event will start at 12 today at the Central Park World Cup Plaza in Guwol-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon.

At today’s event, around 30 groups and 1,000 people will gather and experience programs and performances will be held.Around 4:30 pm, a 2.7km march will also be organized from the World Cup Square to the Intersection of the Incheon Culture and Arts Center held.

Meanwhile, the Incheon Citizens’ Family Love Festival is also held from 9:00 to 22:00, a demonstration against Christian and conservative groups who oppose the queer festival.

These rallies take place in the immediate vicinity and there is the possibility of physical confrontations due to the overlap of some scheduled marches.

Police are planning to install banners guiding detours, etc. around the event site and the march area, saying that “traffic congestion is expected” in this area and share real-time traffic conditions through traffic broadcasting.

He also urged drivers to bypass the downtown area where the rally and march were scheduled and use Gyeongwon-daero, Namdong-daero and Hogupo-ro and, if possible, use public transportation such as the subway.
