“airBaltic” continues to conclude contracts for the leasing of its aircraft to other airlines

By the end of September this year, 11 aircraft had been chartered: five to “Eurowings”, two to “Eurowings Discover” and four to “SAS”. Currently, “airBaltic” leases nine aircraft – five “Eurowings”, two – “Eurowings Discover” and two – “SAS”.

Representatives of “airBaltic” stated that these contracts are seasonal in nature, but the confidentiality conditions of the contracts prevent the disclosure of specific terms.

The airline’s representatives also replied in the affirmative that “airBaltic” continues to conclude new contracts for the leasing of aircraft. “This business model continues under current conditions”, said the representatives of “airBaltic”, explaining that from 30 October “airBaltic” will lease up to six aircraft to the Swiss airline “Swiss International Air Lines”.

At the moment, due to the lack of spare parts, five “airBaltic” aircraft are not used permanently, as their engines are awaiting repair at the US plant “Pratt & Whitney”, however, the number of unused aircraft it can vary every day.

It has already been announced that “airBaltic” carried a total of 1.628 million passengers in 2021, 21.4% more than in the first year of the pandemic, 2020.

The turnover of “airBaltic” last year was 204.1 million euros, 41% more than the previous year, while the company’s losses decreased by 49% and amounted to 135.7 million. EUR.

The Latvian state owns 96.14% of the voting rights in the capital of “airBaltic”, while “Aircraft Leasing 1” owned by the financial investor, the Danish businessman Lars Tūsen – 3.86%.

The same airline currently leases an “Airbus A319” aircraft from the “Carpatair” airline.
