The major shopping centers in Ile-de-France will not reopen this Monday, on the date of the start of deconfinement. The Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire had said on Thursday that shopping centers with an area of more than 40,000 square meters would not be allowed to reopen on Monday in areas classified red on the deconfinement map. Ile-de-France is still in the red zone, according to the latest map communicated by the health authorities.
“Regarding shopping centers of more than 40,000 square meters, (…) they may reopen in agreement with the prefects except in Ile-de-France where we believe that health risks (…) lead us to postpone their openings, “said the Bercy tenant.
In the Val-de-Marne department, the prefecture has also confirmed to our colleagues from Parisian that it would not grant an exemption. The Quai d’Ivry, Créteil Soleil, Belle Epine shopping centers in Thiais and La Cerisaie in Fresnes will therefore be forced to remain closed.
The fate of some shopping centers is more difficult to decide, however. La Vache Noire in Arcueil, for example, still does not know if it will be able to reopen on Monday. “We are at the limit,” said Anne Monteil to the Ile-de-France newspaper. “Just 40,000 square meters according to certain measures, 9,000 more according to other criteria. Depending on the figure, it will be yes or no. I still have no news.
