Employee wants to work from home more often, employer less enthusiastic | Financial

Working from home is still increasing in popularity among job seekers, partly because of the greater freedom to organize their own time, but also because of the rising fuel costs. As a result, commuting has become a lot more expensive. The fear of a new virus outbreak also plays a role.

Two years ago, only 0.1% of viewers clicked on the search term ‘work from home’ on Indeed’s site, today it’s 0.5%. That doesn’t seem like much, acknowledges communications manager Kelly Oude Veldhuis. “But we’re quickly talking about thousands of searches a day.”

According to her, the possibility to work from home is currently mentioned in 4.7% of all vacancies. In January it was still 6%. Oude Veldhuis: ,,I think that as an employer in this tight labor market you have to pull out all the stops to find staff. It may therefore be an idea to offer working from home as standard. Otherwise, there is a chance that someone will apply elsewhere where it is an option.”
