Chairman of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto and Chairman of the PDI-P Megawati Soekarnoputri suggest the mayor of Solo Gibran Rakabuming Raka advance in the gubernatorial election (pilgub). From this support, Prabowo is considered to want to repeat the Jokowi-Ahok period.
“Don’t forget there was a time when PDIP and Gerindra brought Jokowi-Ahok. What does that mean? I see there are memories that want to be restored, for example, reminiscing about the days of the PDIP and Gerindra coalition,” said historian Eko Sulistyo in a total political discussion, at Jl Warung Jati Timur Raya, South Jakarta, Saturday (25/6/2022).
“Frankly, it’s time for politics, at least I have a memory in DKI Jakarta that there was political romance at the time of carrying out Jokowi-Ahok,” he continued.
According to him, support for Gibran is a common thing as a cadre in a political party. However, what makes it extraordinary is the support from the Ketum Gerindra.
“If then as a political party that becomes a cadre there, of course it is actually a normal thing, but because it was done by the chairman who later became an extraordinary endorsement,” he said.
Previously reported, Gibran Rakabuming received advice from Prabowo and Megawati when they met separately. Gibran did visit Prabowo Subianto’s residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, Saturday (18/6). At that time, Prabowo had time to teach Gibran to ride to lunch together at his residence. On that occasion, Prabowo apparently had suggested Gibran run in the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election or the Central Java gubernatorial election.
“There are many (advice), secrets, secrets. (Regarding political careers) yes, for sure, dong,” explained Gibran when met by reporters at the GO Sritex Arena, Sunday (19/6).
“It is recommended to move forward in one of the provinces (DKI Jakarta-Central Java). One (DKI Jakarta or Central Java), in one province,” he added.
It turned out that the day before meeting Prabowo, on Thursday (17/6), Gibran also visited Megawati and the Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani. The meeting took place at Megawati’s residence.
Gibran also admitted that he had received advice from Megawati. He admitted that he was also given the same advice as Prabowo by the PDIP chairman Megawati and Puan Maharani.
“(Getting advice from Puan-Megawati) Ms. Puan and Mrs. Mega, it is the same (it is recommended to run for governor election),” explained Gibran to reporters when met at the Sritex Arena GOR, Sunday (19/6).
