Snapchat provides users with a separate “My Eyes Only” section in the app to keep Snaps. On Snapchat, photos and videos are commonly referred to as Snaps. While users tend to immediately send Snaps to others, they can also save any Snaps they want to keep for themselves. In these situations, users can either export the Snaps to their smartphone gallery or keep them in a folder.
Snapchat has become a platform used by both adults and children, and comes with a ton of features. For example, there’s the ability to use shared stories, the ability to add polls to private stories, and even embed YouTube links in Snaps. Snapchat is also widely available on Android and iOS devices, and most of the app’s features, including My Eyes Only, are available on both operating systems.
My Eyes Only is basically a secure folder where users can store their private Snaps, and this is one of the features that makes Snapchat so popular among users. Once a Snap is added to the My Eyes Only section, users will only be able to view it after entering the password they created when setting up My Eyes Only. Even though this section provides a safer place for Snaps that are of a sensitive nature, users should keep in mind that if they forget the password, Snapchat will not be able to help them regain access or recover the Snaps. For this reason, users should be careful when creating or changing the password.
Change My Eyes Only password on Snapchat
To change My Eyes Only password on Snapchat, users will need to open the ‘Souvenirs’ in the app by swiping up on the camera screen, then swiping left to reach the “My eyes only” section. On the screen that asks for the password, there is a small ‘Options’ button in the lower right corner. Tap on this button then select ‘Change password.’ Snapchat will ask users to enter their current password and set up a new four-digit password. There is also the option to skip the password in favor of using a passphrase instead. This alternative option can be chosen by selecting ‘Use passphrase‘ at the bottom, then pressing ‘Next.‘
On the next screen, Snapchat will provide a My Eyes Only password disclaimer, requiring the user to tap ‘Continue’ followed by ‘Finish’ to complete the change. As mentioned, users who forget their current password will not be able to set a new password without losing all Snaps. However, simply changing the password will not delete anything stored in Snapchat My eyes only section.
