Streaming films approved for Oscars due to corona crisis

Typically, a film must be shown in a Los Angeles movie theater for at least seven consecutive days to be eligible for film award nominations. However, all cinemas in Los Angeles have been closed for more than a month because of the coronavirus pandemic.

After the cinemas reopened, the temporarily relaxed rule no longer applied, the Academy said. The 93rd Academy Awards are scheduled for February 28, 2021.
