The latest news on the Formula E Circuit that is starting to be paved

PT JakPro targets the construction of the Formula E circuit in Ancol, North Jakarta to be completed in April. As of early March, the race track has shown progress.

Start paved

President Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) Widi Amanasto said the construction of the Formula E track was starting the asphalting stage. Widi did not specify how long the track had been paved. However, Jakpro promised to periodically report the progress of the track construction.

“If it’s paved, it’s already done,” said Widi when confirmed, Friday (4/3/2022).

detikcom together with the leadership of the DKI Jakarta DPRD had the opportunity to see the process of building the Formula E circuit in the Ancol area, North Jakarta. Monitoring at the location on Sunday (6/3/2022), a number of heavy equipment came in and out of the project area delivering construction materials.

The construction of the Formula E circuit is divided into five zones. Some areas have been paved. Meanwhile, other areas are being leveled using heavy equipment.

There are also areas that have been casted. In that area, dozens of concrete and other construction equipment are also placed. A number of heavy equipment are still dredging sand and gravel around the site.

The project is targeted to be completed in 54 days starting from February 3, 2022 to March 28, 2022. The total length of the 2,400-meter circuit consists of 18 bends and a straight track length of about 527 meters.

Construction Already 52 Percent

Deputy Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, M Taufik, said that currently the track construction progress has reached 52 percent. He estimates that in early April the Formula E circuit will be completed.

“The progress has reached 52 percent. So the remaining 48 percent, God willing, will be finished by early April,” Taufik told reporters.

During the visit, Taufik asked that the circuit work be completed according to schedule. So that it does not interfere with the preparation of the Formula E event as a whole. He is also optimistic that PT Jaya Konstruksi will build a proper circuit and comply with the regulations.

“They can’t go outside the standard rules of the Formula E organization, that’s all. And these people are already good at making toll roads,” he explained.
