Concerns about carnival rules • Backlog in waste collection due to staff loss

The Patient Distribution Coordination Center (LCPS) sees a turning point in hospital occupancy. Ever since last weekend The number of corona patients in the nursing wards is rising again.

127 new corona patients were added last day, as a result of which the number of people with corona in hospitals has increased to 1141, compared to 1093 yesterday. Ten new patients were admitted to the ICUs, but the overall occupancy still decreased. There are now 262 corona patients in the ICU, yesterday there were 275.

The coordination center and RIVM had long assumed that the number of patients in hospitals would increase again. “As expected, in the last week of January we will see the impact of omikron on the occupation in the clinic, we will monitor whether this development continues in the coming weeks.”

Remarkably many patients under 30

The LCPS says that a striking number of corona patients under the age of 30 are being admitted. The influx under that age category has never been higher than it is now. The LCPS did not want to give exact figures yet, because it still wants to study the underlying data carefully. For example, it is still questionable whether patients who tested positive for the coronavirus are actually in hospital because of a corona infection.

Infection rates among young people have been very high in recent weeks. “We were not too worried about that, because these age groups are at the lowest risk, but our data specialists liked the high admission figures,” a spokesperson for the LCPS told ANP news agency.

64,757 new positive tests

Until 10:00 this morning, 64,757 new positive tests have been reported to the RIVM. However, due to huge backlogs at RIVM, the actual number of positively tested people has been much higher for a number of days. The difference can amount to several tens of thousands per day. It is unclear when these arrears will be made up again.

Eight deceased covid patients were reported to RIVM. In the past seven days, RIVM registered an average of 9 deaths a day, compared to 10 deaths a day a week earlier.

Fewer deaths are reported to RIVM on weekends. As a result, these figures are almost always lower on Sunday and Monday than in the rest of the week.

The graphs below show how the influx and occupation in hospitals has developed, what the space is in the intensive care units, the development of the number of positive tests and the number of deaths:
