Inflation 2021 in Italy + 1.9%, the largest increase since 2012

In December 2021, according to preliminary estimates, the national consumer price index recorded an increase of 0.4% on a monthly basis and of 3.9% on an annual basis (from + 3.7% in the previous month) . This was announced by Istat which calculates that, on average, in 2021 consumer prices recorded a growth of + 1.9%, after the decline in 2020 (-0.2%). This is, the institute comments, the largest increase since 2012 (+ 3%). The recovery of inflation in 2021 is essentially driven by the trend in the prices of Energy goods (+ 14.1%), which decreased by 8.4% in 2020. Net of these goods, in 2021, the rise in prices to consumption is the same as recorded in the previous year (+ 0.7%).

Euro / dollar above 1.13, crude oil is down
