Klaten — Officers fogging in Patoman Hamlet, Kedungampel Village, Cawas District, Klaten Regency, Wednesday (22/12). The fumigation was carried out following the outbreak of chikungunya in the local area.
The head of Kedungampel village, Karmo, said that 47 residents in Patoman Hamlet had been affected by chikungunya since early December. They consist of children to adults.
“Until today, information from RT and RW in Patoman Hamlet is about 47 residents affected by chikungunya. Of that number, 10 people have not recovered, the rest have improved,” he said, Wednesday (12/22).
He explained, residents were exposed to chikungunya not at the same time, but gradually since the beginning of last December.
“Those affected by chikungunya initially complain of fever, joint pain and rashes on the hands and feet,” he said.
One of the residents, Tumirin (48), admitted that he had chikungunya last weekend. He felt pain all over his body.
“What I have felt since last Sunday night. Waking up, my back hurts really bad. I thought the heart, it turns out that after sleeping again and in the morning, the body can’t move. It hurts in all joints,” he said.
Meanwhile, upon receiving a report from the village, health workers immediately went to the location and monitored the condition of residents affected by chikungunya.
Officers also conducted an epidemiological investigation and found mosquito larvae at the location. Officers immediately do fogging.
The head of the Cawas 1 Health Center, Dr. Ambar Retnoningsih, appealed to the community to jointly maintain environmental cleanliness and eradicate mosquito nests.
“For this rainy season, even though it’s not only chikungunya, because the symptoms are almost the same as dengue and this is also automatic for prevention and still eradicating mosquito nests,” he said.
