(ANSA) – ROME, NOVEMBER 27 – The director of the Oxford Vaccine Group, the group that developed the AstraZeneca vaccine, expressed cautious optimism that the existing serums are effective on the Omicron variant of Covid, deeming it “unlikely” a resumption of pandemic. Speaking to the BBC’s Today program, Professor Andrew Pollard explained that “most of the mutations” in the Omicron variant “are found in the same spots in the spike protein as the other variants” against which the vaccines have been shown to be effective.
