Now the Support Fund has stopped. The last 290,000 euros will be divided among the victims, Het Laatste Nieuws writes. Stijn Meuris, chairman of the Support Fund, tells VRT NWS: “That amount will be paid out to the last euro according to a precise distribution formula, just as has happened over the past ten years.”
The money from the support fund has been used, among other things, to pay for medical supplies for victims with permanent injuries, or to adapt victims’ homes, or to help pay for funeral expenses. That was independent of the intervention of the insurance companies.
