‘It’s the weekend and almost July 4th’ – De Daily Standaard

US President Joe Biden has once again made a complete embarrassment to himself and his country. During a press conference, he flips out to journalists who ask him questions about the withdrawal of troops in Afghanistan. “It’s almost July 4th, I’m not going to answer any questions about that now,” he shouts.

The tension in Afghanistan is to die for. Biden has said he would withdraw troops. The Netherlands is already working on this and while that is happening the Taliban is advancing to regain control of the country, reports The Telegraph. So it’s only logical that questions are asked about that!

But the American president has little interest in answering such questions, according to this excerpt.

“I’m not going to answer any more questions about Afghanistan. Look, July 4. I’m concerned that you guys are asking me questions that I’ll be answering next week, but now it’s the holiday weekend and I’m going to celebrate. Great things are about to happen,” Biden said.

It is truly astonishing how easily he tries to wriggle out of this. You can tell there will be questions about such an important topic as Afghanistan, especially because of the state the country is now left behind.

Nearly twenty years after the invasion of Afghanistan, the war on terror, the fight against the Taliban and the ‘spreading of democracy’ (for those who still believe that at all), the United States threatens to leave a huge mess behind. Moreover, they implicitly admit that they have lost the war against the Taliban hard. And what does Biden say? “No man, not now, it’s a party weekend.”

A call from the editors: DDS, like many other websites, is having a very difficult time due to the corona crisis. We want to keep everything readable for everyone for free, so that we depend on advertising for our income. But companies have financial concerns, so they don’t have much to worry about. We also notice the consequences of this. Hence our broadcast to you, our readers: please support us! Through the reliable Dutch BackMe system you can donate monthly or once. Then he goes off the rails again and calls the questions of journalists ‘negative questions’ (negative questions, red.), but corrects itself quickly. Not that it makes the fiasco any better, but good.
