FilGoal | News | Al-Muhammadi: I look forward to being the first Egyptian to end his career in England … those are better than having them in the national team

Aston Villa and Egypt’s Ahmed Al-Muhammadi are looking to end his career in the English Premier League as the first Egyptian player to finish his career in England.

Al-Mohammadi spoke in a lengthy dialogue with his club Aston Villa website about his period in England and the increase in Egyptians in the English Premier League and the best of their neighbors in the Egyptian team.

The text of the dialogue was as follows:

– We congratulate you on completing ten years in English football. How do you think about your period in this country until now?

I remember my first day in England when I joined Sunderland, the first English club I played for, it was a difficult start because I came to a different country, a different culture and climate and without my family or friends, but I got used to it well and enjoyed it.

There were also some difficulties with the language, but over time I learned that and am proud of what I did, and I hope to continue for years to come as I think I am the first Egyptian player to have spent ten years here in England.

– Tell us how was last season for you, and about the trip to the Premier League?

The Championship is tough and the club spent two years there and we reached the final in 2018 but we did not succeed in qualifying, but we reached Wembley again in 2019.

We were determined to win and qualify and we did it already and it was one of the best days of my career of course, I love playing the Premier League.

– What makes Aston Villa so special?

It is one of the most prestigious clubs here in England and the world, the fans and the general atmosphere at the Villa Park stadium are great, and I am delighted to be here and have spent my best time in England here.

Away from football, how would you describe your life in England?

I am settled here. I have my wife, two children, Malik and a star. I want to start a family since I came here to settle in as soon as possible.

Do you want to end your career in Egypt?

I have been here in England for a long time and I look forward to finishing my career here too, to be the first Egyptian player to finish his career in England.

How do you feel when you see more Egyptian players in the English Premier League?

It is a good thing for Egyptian football, we have Mohamed Salah, Mahmoud Trezeguet in the league and Ahmed Hegazy in the Championship, playing with that big league will benefit the Egyptian players and team as well, and I hope to see many Egyptian players here in the future.

What is your advice for young Arab players?

You must be committed and work hard, commitment is the key to achieving your goals and we saw that in Salah and Trezeguet.

Who is the most influential person in your career?

My father advises me and always supports me in difficult times.

Who is the best art director trained under his leadership before Dean Smith?

Steve Bruce, the one who brought me here through Sunderland, then signed up with me in Hull City and Aston Villa, respected him a lot and helped me a lot.

Who is the best player you played with internationally?

I played with many great players like Mohamed Barakat, Mohamed Abu Trika, Ahmed Hossam Mido and now Mohamed Salah and Trezeguet, I cannot challenge one player, they are all great players and I am proud to play with them.

Who is the best player you played with in England?

I played with a lot of great players like John Terry and Jack Greelish, but for me Greelish is the best because he’s witty and can make a difference at any time.

Who is better against England?

Eden Hazard was one of the hardest to encounter, Ashley Cole also when he was at his best time at Chelsea.

Finally, what is the best moment in your ten years in England?

Qualifying for the Premier League with Aston Villa, when you see the joy in the eyes of fans you realize how much they wished for that, it is definitely my best moment here.
