Klopp Sindir Stadion Madrid, Florentino Perez Reveals UCL 2018 Final

Manager Liverpool Jürgen Klopp had criticized the temporary cage Real Madrid. The Whites preside, Florentino Perez, answered the criticism.

As is known, because the Santiago Bernabeu is being renovated, since last June Madrid played a home match at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano, which is located in their training facility in Valdebebas.

The stadium has a small capacity, which is only 6 thousand spectators, and is usually used by Real Madrid Castilla. This small amount usually does not qualify as a Champions League venue.

But in a pandemic situation COVID-19, where the match is played without spectators, then Madrid there is no problem playing home games there, including when facing Liverpool in the quarterfinals this season.

In the first leg in Madrid on Tuesday (6/4), Zinedine Zidane’s squad won 3-1. At that time, after the match Klopp implicitly criticized Estadio Alfredo di Stefano, who he considered less worthy than Anfield.

“It must be a very difficult task for Real Madrid at Anfield with or without supporters. Here tonight was very strange, very difficult, a different situation with the stadium, but Anfield is at least a decent stadium and it will be good for us,” said Klopp at that time.

A week later, on Wednesday (14/4) to be precise, it was Liverpool’s turn to host Madrid at Anfield. Unfortunately, the Reds failed to turn things around. The match ended 0-0 and Madrid advanced to the semifinals.

Klopp’s comment was recently responded by Perez. Interviewed during the El Larguero program on Thursday (22/4) WIB, the 74-year-old president called the Madrid reserve team’s home as good as any other big stadium.

“I don’t know why he doesn’t like it. For us, Valdebebas and Kiev are the same. We won 3-1. The pitch is the same,” said Perez, insinuating Klopp.

Kiev is the location of the 2018 Champions League final, where Madrid become champion after defeating Liverpool 3-1 in the final. The match is known for its many moments, such as Gareth Bale’s overhead goal, the duel between Sergio Ramos and Mohamed Salah, to Loris Karius’s blunder.
