The European Commission cut Borissov in absentia after the prime minister commented on Sunday on rising prices for vaccines against COVID-19. A spokesman for the institution pointed out that the EC distinguishes between previous contracts for pre-purchase of vaccines and contracts for future periods.
They cannot be compared, said the spokesman for Ursula von der Leyen’s deputy, Stefan De Kiirsmecker.

“Pfizer cost 12 euros. After 15.50 euros per dose. A contract for 19.50 euros per dose has now been signed. A contract is being signed for 900 million vaccines. “
The Bulgarian Prime Minister spoke about European solidarity and how his diplomatic efforts have provided an additional 2.7 million doses of the drug against CfID-19 from Pfizer, which will be delivered to Bulgaria in the next two months.
“At the moment, we are most worried about the French version of the virus. New ones will appear… Because 19.50 euros for 900 million will cost nearly 18 billion euros … First one dose, then a second, third, fourth … “, Borissov continued and added that the experts should determine much more high budgets for vaccines.
However, this is contrary to part of the agreement between the EC and the manufacturer, according to which prices remain confidential. Borissov’s words became an occasion for new publications with a negative attitude towards us in Brussels editions.
“We have never commented on the prices in the contracts. We have never done it, we will not do it. But the goals of this initiative are important. The European Union must be ready for the next stage of the epidemic, ready for 2022 and beyond.
