Hanoi (VNA) – More than 8,300 units of blood, or 3,300 more than expected, were collected during the Red Spring Festival 2021 which took place March 1-7 in Hanoi.
Thus, the volume of blood collected during the blood donation launched by the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, exceeded 160% of the target.
This collection aimed to fill the blood shortage resulting from the collection restrictions due to the health crisis.
Launched in 2008, the Red Spring Festival has grown into a nationwide annual event, helping to address the blood shortage after the Lunar New Year, and to create and maintain the habit of donating blood in early spring.
After 14 organized editions, the Festival collected 93,000 units of blood. -VNA
