“The shame of our country”. Facebook publications shared several hundred times on Wednesday February 24 attributed to LREM MP Aurore Bergé remarks according to which retirees would be able to make efforts because they take “three meals a day and sometimes even a snack”. This is a parody quote.

Freezing retirement pensions is a measure of social justice. In my riding I meet retirees every day who eat 3 meals a day and sometimes even a snack. They have to make an effort, they have the capacity to do it“, can we read on a visual shared on the Facebook group Map of gatherings (390,000 members).

A shame to tell such bullshit (…) to be fired as soon as possible“, comments an Internet user.”Disgusting. Resignation !!!“, reacts another under the publication.

Problem: the quote attributed to Aurore Bergé, taken in the first degree by Internet users, comes from a parody Twitter account.

Note that the parody mention, visible on the original Twitter account, does not appear on the screenshot posted on Facebook.

The far-right site Nice-provence.info had also relayed in 2018 this alleged quote from Aurore Bergé, without specifying that it was a parody.

This is not the first time that a parody quote attributed to the deputy LREM has been used in the first degree on Facebook.

In March 2020, publications according to which she would have called on opponents of 49-3 not to demonstrate “under penalty of contracting the coronavirus“had been widely shared on Facebook.

A year earlier, very shared Facebook posts attributed to him comments about a possible withdrawal of the right to vote from retirees.

But again, these were quotes from the same parodic Twitter account.
