With 2.5 million downloads within 24 hours Apex legends big last year. Call of duty now impresses with even more players.
That people want a Call of duty Having Battle Royale would be an understatement. With the release of Warzone, the new Free-to-Play Battle Royale this week, developer Infinity Ward fulfilled the community’s secret desires. CoD was able to register a total of 6 million players within the first few hours. This is almost three times the 2.5 million registrations Apex Legends had with the release.
What a day! 24 hours in and over 6 million of you have dropped into #Warzone.

Battle for genre throne opened
Thanks to the well-known franchise, Warzone could possibly become the first serious rival for Fortnite – the one in the new season has started. Even though Apex Legends or PUBG have very impressive numbers of players, they are not quite enough Fortnite ran. There the last known numbers are around 80 million players per month, with Apex Legends one speaks of around 8-10 million players per week. A good number considering that Apex Legends just started its first birthday celebrated.
PUBG is regularly high on the charts on Steam, with about a million simultaneous players. Since the various publishers unfortunately do not regularly publish specific numbers for a certain period of time, you can only know here how often the Battle Royales are actually played.
Commitment is key
Can CoD: Warzone position itself as a long-term competitor in this highly competitive genre? With such a strong release, it already has. Now developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision need a long-term commitment to the mode that extends beyond the annual cycle of the Call of Duty games.
Otherwise, Warzone is just another one Call of dutyMode, which disappears with the next release and reappears in a season pass. Or as the same mode with a new name.
Call of Duty Warzone has been available free of charge for XBox One, Playstation 4 and PC since March 10th. The download is between 80 and 100 GB, if you already own and have installed Call of Duty, you don’t have to download quite as much.

With the first Gameboy, which he “borrowed” from his father, Nathan’s fascination with the world of polygons, bits and pixels began. Games are still his greatest passion today and have taken on a completely new meaning with the development in the field of eSports.
