Berlin volleys rehearse in Frankfurt for the Champions League – Berlin.de

The Berlin Volleys see themselves at least slightly on the rise. The team would like to confirm this impression on Saturday (7.30 p.m. / Sporttotal.tv) in the volleyball Bundesliga at the United Volleys Frankfurt. About the current performance level of the runner-up from the capital, manager Kaweh Niroomand said: “We are far from where we wanted to be at the moment, but at least further than around Christmas time.”

The game in Frankfurt serves the BR Volleys as a dress rehearsal for the second leg in the group stage of the Champions League. From Tuesday on, Volley Ljubljana, Zenit Kazan and Jastrzebski Wegiel will be the top-class opponents in Kazan for three consecutive days.

Against Frankfurt, currently fourth in the table, the BR volleys have already played twice this season. In both the Supercup and the first leg in Berlin, the Hessians lost 3-0. Now the United Volleys have to do without captain Matthias Valkiens. The Belgian international recently underwent disc surgery.

The injured list of the BR Volleys has been thinned. Especially player Sergej Grankin and diagonal attacker Benjamin Patch recently showed a significant increase in form after long compulsory breaks. «This axis is extremely important to us. Both are doing very well again, ”said Niroomand.

Outside attacker Samuel Tuia, on the other hand, is not yet in top shape after his foot injury, but his contribution is “good for the mood and morale in the team,” said Niroomand. And with Denis Kaliberda, who was only signed in December, “you can watch him get better day by day”.
