Motorsport – Frankfurt am Main – Organizer: Formula 1 also possible in 2021 – Sport

Frankfurt / Main (dpa) – The Automobile Club of Germany (AvD) considers a return of Formula 1 to Hockenheim or the Nürburgring to be possible this year in light of new speculations.

“We will probably see a few more surprises with regard to the Formula 1 calendar in 2021. As in the previous year, as the organizer of the German Grand Prix, we are ready and waiting to present Liberty Media with a possible Grand Prix in Germany To support the Hockenheim or Nürburgring, “said AvD General Secretary Lutz Leif Linden of the German Press Agency.

Most recently, against the background of the corona pandemic, it was speculated that the hosting of the Azerbaijan, Monaco and Canada Grand Prix was questionable. Allegedly, the Nürburgring is a replacement candidate for the Canada race planned for June 13th.

After seven years of abstinence, the Nürburgring made its Formula 1 comeback last October. The motorsport premier class last made a stop in Hockenheim in 2019. The AvD has been organizing the German Grand Prix for Formula 1 cars since 1926.
