Apple responds to WhatsApp: its apps will have privacy labels

Earlier today, WhatsApp submitted criticism about Apple and its new measures around Apple Store and privacy. Indeed, the Apple announced to put in place labels which concern the personal data, which does not please the instant messaging service.

Two reasons are put forward by the Facebook application: a strong disadvantage compared to iMessage, because according to him, these labels will not apply to native apps. The second ? Too little detailed information to “reflect the strong measures that applications can take to protect people’s private information.”

Apple does not let it go and has just responded to these attacks which seem defamatory.

Apple responds to Facebook attacks

Relations between Facebook and Apple are already very strained, and they are unlikely to improve in the near future … After the incessant attacks around the implementation of measures around user tracking and advertising, here we are. that the group of Mark Zuckerberg returns to the charge.

This time, it is the labels that will be present on the App Store page of applications suggesting the personal data that will be used by them, but especially how they will be. According to Facebook, the implementation is anti-competitive, as Apple’s own encrypted messaging service, iMessage, comes preinstalled on iPhones.

One way to escape these famous labels, which Apple has just denied in response to these statements:

The new rules apply equally to all iOS apps, including all of Apple’s built-in apps like Messages. For iOS apps that don’t have dedicated product pages on the App Store, like Messages, the same privacy information will still be made available to users on Apple’s website.

All that remains is to wait for yet another attack from Facebook …
