Navigation app Waze announced that starting Tuesday, Apple Music will be integrated into its service so users can listen to exclusive music from Apple’s audio streaming service while driving.
Apple Music offers more than 90 million songs, personalized playlists, and Apple Music Radio. All these services can be heard through Waze.
This is just one of Apple Music’s recent strategies to reach more users, since although it is the second most used audio streaming platform in the world (with 78 million subscribers worldwide as of June 2021, according to Statistical figures) is still far behind Spotify (with 182 million premium subscribers in the world until the first quarter of 2022).
Last week, Tim Cook’s company also launched Apple Music Live, a new section of its streaming music platform dedicated to broadcasting live concerts. Harry Styles was the first to offer a concert through this service on May 20.
A company spokesman said a Engadget that this service is a way to “give music’s biggest stars the biggest platform possible to show off how they connect with the public and how their songs translate into live performances.”
To use Apple Music in Waze, follow these steps
- Open the Waze app.
- Tap the music note icon to select Apple Music as your audio app and start listening to your music.
- After connecting, control the audio using the next, previous and pause icons. You can also use the “like” button to personalize your recommendations.
- If you don’t see the music note icon, go to Settings > Audio Player to turn on Show Audio Player.
Like other Waze-linked audio platforms, music volume will be lowered when driving directions come up to ensure drivers hear them.
