The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) says it has captured the situation where some North Korean nuclear facilities are still operating.
IAEA Secretary General Rafael Grossey said at this year’s first regular board meeting held in Vienna, Austria on the 1st local time, “Evidence has been found that internal work is continuing, including testing of a cooling water facility in North Korea’s experimental light water reactor at the end of last year.”
“There is currently no indication that the centrifuge enrichment facility in Yongbyon is producing enriched uranium, but there is a situation where nuclear activities are underway in the Gangseon area near Pyongyang,” said Mr. Grosi.
“North Korea’s nuclear activity still remains a serious concern for the IAEA,” said Grossi. “It is very regrettable that the continuation of North Korea’s nuclear program clearly violates the resolution of the UN Security Council.”
