Yesterday, 4 mutant virus infections were confirmed: 1 in Gimhae, Gyeongnam, 2 in Yangsan, and 1 in Naju, Jeonnam.

There are no further confirmed cases yet.

These four are four relatives of Mr. A, a foreigner who entered the United Arab Emirates on December 25 last year.

All of them are people who have never traveled abroad recently.

Foreigner A was self-quarantined immediately after entering the country, but was confirmed by a prosecutor before release.

As a result of an additional examination of the contact with Mr. A, 18 people were confirmed in Gimhae, Gyeongnam, and 11 people in Yangsan.

Currently, they are all discharged.

Also, on January 13th, 6 out of the 8 members of Mr. B who arrived in the United Arab Emirates were confirmed.

Here, one person was confirmed to have a British mutant virus.

Only 1 out of 6 are receiving inpatient treatment.

The quarantine authorities estimate that all of them are confirmed cases of the British mutant virus.

Gyeongnam Province said that there were currently 135 people, including family members, relatives, and co-workers, in relation to two foreigners, but no additional confirmed patients.

In addition, even if it was tested negative, we are constantly monitoring for infection.

In addition, we are focusing on preemptive testing of workplaces and schools of confirmed mutant virus patients and finding contacts who may be exposed to further exposure.

In addition, even if there is no overseas travel history among confirmed patients in Gimhae and Yangsan, we decided to conduct a mutant virus analysis using existing samples in consultation with the Central Defense Response Headquarters.

Among these, one patient was confirmed with a mutant virus in Gumi, Gyeongbuk.

It is not a British mutant virus, but a South African mutant virus, so authorities are tense.

Currently, mutant viruses are classified into three species, including the UK, South Africa, and Brazil, and it is reported that all three infection cases have been confirmed in 9 locations including Korea.

So far, the national department has delivered it.
