– Foreign media including Reuters reported on the 17th (local time) that the U.S. Department of Justice has prosecuted three North Korean computer programmers who hacked into companies and banks around the world.

According to the news agency, the Ministry of Justice has accused them of attempting to steal more than $1.3 billion (about 1.4 trillion won) of money and cryptocurrency by conducting a massive hacking operation.

The prosecutions were John Chang-hyuk, Kim Il, and Park Jin-hyuk, all of which were identified as belonging to the North Korean intelligence agency, the Reconnaissance Office. Among them, Park Jin-hyuk is also accused of hacking the US film company Sony Pictures in 2014.

Justice officials admitted that a Canadian-American laundered the money they stole, the news agency said.
