The Special Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency, which investigates the Itaewon disaster, is summoning Lee Im-jae, former chief of Seoul Yongsan Police Station, still today (11) to investigate.

To re-apply for an arrest warrant, we entered the last-minute reinforcement investigation, but the investigation cannot go to the “upper line” and remains only in the so-called field director.

The special edition is still called Lee Im-jae, former chief of Yongsan Police Station.

How many summoning surveys are these?

[기자]

It’s the third overall, and the first since the arrest warrant was revoked.

The Special Investigations Branch of the National Police Agency has been conducting a subpoena investigation into the former chief since 10:00 today.

As she failed to secure new recruits once, it appears she will put more effort into proving the charges and organizing the law.

The special release seemed to focus on data analysis and legal review for warrant enforcement rather than calling prime suspects or references as it took a breather yesterday.

Because applying for a pre-trial arrest warrant goes beyond just securing new recruits, it’s also a procedure for verifying the extent to which the allegations have been proven.

This is interpreted to reflect the sense of crisis that if a warrant is not issued this time, the investigative power could suffer a fatal blow.

To this end, following the summons and investigation of the former head of the 112 Situation Department at Yongsan Police Station last week, a further summons and investigation of the former head is underway today.

Above all, the key is how to construct the co-principal case law that each institution’s negligence caused the disaster.

It stands to reason that the disaster occurred due to the accumulation of negligence committed by the main responsible organizations such as the police, fire and district offices, rather than one single person responsible for everything.

In the past, when the Seongsu Bridge or Sampoong Department Store collapsed, public officials in Seoul were punished as co-culprits for manslaughter at work.

Are you planning to reapply for an arrest warrant after this further investigation?

[기자]

Yes, after further investigations prove the allegations in more detail, it appears he will be re-applying for an arrest warrant this week.

If the two new recruits are secured as planned, the call for warrants for other prime suspects, including Yongsan-gu bureau chief Park Hee-young and Yongsan fire chief Choi Seong-beom, will gain momentum .

The special version plans to be sent to the prosecution as early as tomorrow, or at the latest on the 14th, for Park Seong-min, former head of the information department of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and former head of the information department of the Seoul Police Yongsan Station, who were arrested on suspicion of deleting the report.

However, today the National Assembly will vote on the proposed dismissal of the Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min.

There is also the criticism that the investigation of the special edition has not yet been directed to the “top line” and remains only in the field.

With the families of the victims of the disaster issuing advice yesterday and raising their voices for the truth, the biggest concern this week is expected to be whether the special edition can deliver survey results that meet expectations .
