Yesterday, the government announced that it had completed a contract to purchase 20 million COVID-19 vaccines with Modena.
Modena also confirmed the contract and announced that it will supply the vaccine to Korea from May.

The modena vaccine secured by the government through this contract is 40 million doses, which can fit 20 million people.

The US pharmaceutical company Modena also confirmed the contract with Korea and announced that it had decided to supply it to Korea from May this year.
The company added that the vaccine is currently not approved for use in Korea, but it will cooperate with the authorities to obtain the necessary approval before distribution.
With the conclusion of the contract with Modena, Korea has secured a vaccine that can inoculate a total of 56 million people.
This exceeds 100% of the domestic population and is sufficient to form collective immunity.
Prior to this, the government completed supply contracts with AstraZeneca for 10 million, Janssen for 6 million, and Pfizer for 10 million.
In addition, through’CoVax Facility’, an international project for joint purchase and distribution of vaccines, we have secured a total of 36 million vaccines, with a plan to supply 10 million people first.
The pre-purchased vaccines are available in the first quarter of the new year for AstraZeneca, the second quarter for Janssen and Modena, and the third for Pfizer.
As Modena, which has decided to supply the largest quantity, has announced that it will start supplying vaccines from May, it is noteworthy that the period of formation of’collective immunity’ expected in the fall could be accelerated.
The government has announced that it will announce the vaccination plan currently being established in January.
