A hazardous chemical leak accident occurred at the LG display panel production plant and 7 people were injured.
It is believed that an accident occurred while connecting pipes with flowing material, and two employees working at the time were found to have a cardiac arrest.

This is an LG display panel manufacturing plant in Paju-si.
Around 2:10 pm, about 400 liters of tetramethyl ammonium hydroxide, a hazardous chemical, leaked from the 5th floor of a 9-story factory.
At the time, piping connections were being made at the site, and about 20 people were working.

The pipes that leaked harmful substances were shut off in about 30 minutes, but 7 people were injured, including 4 factory workers and 3 in-house emergency medical personnel.
Among them, two plumbing workers were found in cardiac arrest.
At the time, it was found that the whole body was exposed to chemical liquids because of not wearing protective clothing.
After being taken to the hospital, cardiopulmonary function and pulse were restored, but one was reported to have not yet found consciousness.

Leaked tetramethyl ammonium hydroxide is a colorless liquid with ammonia odor and is used as a cleaning agent in semiconductor processing.
When exposed to the human body, it is deadly toxic, causing burns to the skin and paralyzing the respiratory tract.
LG Display said, “By establishing a countermeasure headquarters, we will actively cooperate in identifying the causes of the relevant authorities, and will do our best to quickly recover injured employees.”
The fire department, the police, and the Chemical Safety Agency are investigating whether safety management has been properly carried out, as well as examining the connection between piping work and chemical leakage accidents.
